Foodie Photos From Japan

September 2009
GlobalChefs.com's good friend Tomoe was headed home to Japan for a couple of weeks. So we asked her to take her camera, and snap the culinary delights that she feasted upon! This is what she saw (and ate)...

(L) Misodengaku - red miso paste with mirin, sugar, yuzu on Konnyaku (looks like a jelly and stone). YUM! (R) The best noodles-sooooo fresh! Tempura (Anago - fish), Eel with Rice, pickles, dipping sauce with radish and greens!

(L) Green Tea Shaved Ice With Red Beans on the bottom. (R) The Plastic version

Street Food - Over 5 dollars for a fish sounded a bit too much, but you can't get the same in the US, so my daughter and I shared one.

(L) Have you seen this before? It's sesame! (R) Hashouga - type of ginger, we soak them in vinegar and sugar, then dip them in miso paste to eat.

(L) We walked thru the little street where you can see traditional style cafe, restaurants and spice shops. (R) People still use abacus here.

Soooooooo gooooood. He is making a rice cracker dipped in soy sauce for me!

(L) Purple Shiso leaves. My mom will boil them in water to make a healthy juice. Very soothing taste for summer. (R) This is a drink my mom made from Purple Shiso leaves.
